“Today, the principal reason for our employees to come to the towers is to meet other members of our personnel.”

Jacques Beyssade, Secretary General, Groupe BPCE, and Guillaume de Saint-Seine, Global Head of Financial and Sovereign Institutions, Natixis CIB.

What did your role as sponsors of the Business Lines Committee consist in?

Jacques Beyssade — For four years, our committee regularly brought together all the business line representatives present in the towers. Our objective was to involve the future occupants at a very early stage in the process to take account of their expectations and inform them of how the construction work was progressing. Our discussions covered the arrival of the different teams on the premises, any specific fixtures and fittings required, etc. We also thought about the group’s senior managers and employees working in the towers, and about our customers who, it is important to remember, are entitled a warm reception… without forgetting the candidates who want to work for the group and who form their first impressions about us as soon as they walk into the entrance hall.

Guillaume de Saint-Seine — The health crisis threw our working methods into disarray and accelerated the pace of changes that were already happening, notably the adoption of hybrid working practices. We made sure that the physical layout of our offices supports these changes and encourages the creation of a convivial and informal working environment. Today, the principal reason for our employees to come to the towers is to meet other members of our personnel.

Do you have any memories you’d like to share?

G. de S.-S. — At the end of May 2020, after two months of total lockdown, I went to the WELL Experience with my team. We discovered an area entirely dedicated to immersion in what would become our future work spaces and working methods. We shared a great learning experience and moment of conviviality.

J . B. — There are many memories I could share but the choice of the artwork for the West Tower was a powerful moment, a unique experience. The sculpture created by Marguerite Humeau, a major figure in contemporary French art, is particularly original. Intimately bound up with the River Seine, the work naturally found its place in this location. It exists in perfect harmony with the work of Ed Pien located in the East Tower. In its own way, each sculpture speaks about our group and I find that they enter into a sort of dialogue or exchange, like the two dancers conjured up by our duo of towers.

What were your first impressions of the BPCE Towers?

G. de S.-S. — On July 2020, before the towers had been completed, we took an outdoor elevator up to the 34th floor. It was very windy that day and I can honestly tell you that I was scared stiff! But at that very moment the project became real to me, and I said to myself: “That’s it, we’ve done it!”

J . B. — The visit that Guillaume just mentioned was an incredible moment. The construction site was managed to perfection by teams of confirmed professionals. And when we reached the top, we suddenly had that incredible view…
