Interview with Amina Boukheddouni, student at the Paris-Val de Seine School of Architecture and Yannick Falduzza, Director of the association Les Amis de l’ESSpace.

What a chance to be a student of architecture in this neighborhood!

First, there’s the incredible architecture of our school building, located in the former Sudac factory. Beyond that, the district is a veritable open-air ‘master class,’ with a host of buildings designed by famous architects. Whenever I go out walking, my curiosity is constantly aroused and I wonder how the buildings were designed, what materials were used to build them, what construction issues had to be overcome… We were also privileged witnesses to the construction of the BPCE Towers designed by the architect Jean Nouvel. We even monitored the progress of the work from one of our classrooms and didn’t fail to talk about it!

Our association provides support for social and solidarity-based economy (SSE) projects in the neighborhood,

support for student entrepreneurship, and the provision of coworking spaces. Les Amis de l’ESSpace has an extremely appealing ‘chat room’ feel to it that provides opportunities for informal exchanges while simultaneously creating a real ecosystem at the service of local residents… and even beyond. We are members of the Board of Directors of the Regional Chamber of the Social & Solidarity-based Economy, an entity that takes part in consultancy assignments for the Greater Paris Metropolis area. The BPCE Towers will be creating a small town just next to us. I hope that their occupants will find that we’re a warm and friendly place to have a drink or attend a conference or a concert. They’ll be most welcome!
